I have to be honest here: Japan was never really on my travel bucket list. However, since following along on Lena’s journey through the Land of the Rising Sun, I changed my mind about Japan. Add the fact that Japan has the coolest ideas brought to reality nowadays, it might even climb higher on my bucket list.
You all know by now that I have a keen interest in cycling. While this is still a pretty much passive interest, I do intend to hop on a bike in the (near) future and set goals for myself (l’Alpe d’Huez anyone?). In case I do become a keen active cyclist, I know where I’ll be staying if I ever travel to Japan: Hotel Cycle.
Hotel Cycle (Onomichi U2) is a hotel entirely centered around cyclists. They’re aiming at making cyclists feel welcome with accommodations adjusted for cycling tourists. Located on the shoreline of Onomichi in Hiroshima Prefecture, the hotel has an excellent location for those bike-riding tourists. The building is actually a renovated seafront warehouse with all needs for those cycling enthusiasts. There’s even the possibility to wheel your bike right up to the reception desk upon checking in (I mean, how cool is that?).
All rooms provide a wall rack to put up your bike and the hotel also hosts a store that breathes cycling (think all possible accessories). There’s also a space for repairing and maintenance and the hotel will gladly take care of your bike delivery upon arrival and departure.
I really like the idea behind this type of accommodation aimed at niche interests. I wonder what’s next in this playfield: feel free to share your thoughts on this one in the comments section below.
Oooh this is so amazing!!=D so happy that I inspired you to at least think of Japan as a good place to visit soon. 😉
Yes, you did! Although, it has been on my husband’s travel bucket list for a long time.
