je suis charlie

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families on both sides of this week’s actions. Losing a family member or friend is the hardest to cope with in life, no matter what religion.

One might like to say that the pen is mightier than the sword. When someone decided to test this theory this past Wednesday, I’m not so sure anymore.

After what has been the most awful week ever in Paris, I can only hope that we, as a people, can stay strong and don’t feel any fear. Of course, I am scared, especially for our future children to grow up in a world like this.

And of course I am not Charlie, not by far. But I did want to use this phrase today as a way to express my feelings towards what has happened. I’d like to see it as a virtual march through the streets of Paris together with the hundreds of thousands of people who are making their way through the City of Light at this exact time.
