It’s quite obvious: Ghent is Belgium’s hipster town. There’s no denying that. For the last few months, it has had hipster bars and shops popping up all over the place. One of these rather new places is Huiskamer Ernest.
Are you in for a read, some studying or a nice conversation over a cup of coffee? Then Huiskamer Ernest might be exactly what you’re looking for. The interior is cozy (living-room (huiskamer, Dutch) feel) and as with all these hipster locations nowadays, it is for sale as well. As with many of these joints lately, a visit to the bathroom is obligatory (go see for yourself). While you’re at Huiskamer Ernest, you might be treated to a performance, as they regularly invited artists to do their thing or if you’re up for it, you can join them in one of the workshops they’re organizing.
I loved the light interior and the location, but I was a tad bit disappointed by the menu as it is pretty basic.
If you want to visit the place, you might hurry up as it is once again one of these locations with the pop-up label. Although we’ve seen many of these turn into a definite location.
