Over the weekend my mom and I finally made it to the Dries Van Noten expo at MoMu Antwerp. I had missed out on the original exposition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs but was happy to hear the expo would also visit Antwerp.

From what I’ve read the exposition was put up in a similar way to the one in Paris: centered around the inspirations that led to certain of Van Noten’s collection. Not your classic retrospective and I was quite fond of this approach.
Upon leaving the expo I felt overwhelmed: the man has so many sources of inspiration, it’s incredible. Taking a look at the different silhouettes and how he incorporates all these inspirations in them, I was in awe.
Influenced by either art, pop culture or a simple painting, he wows me every time.
I’m not the biggest fashion connoisseur so please forgive me for not picking a favourite collection here.
If you can make it to Antwerp before the expo closes mid-July, I’d highly recommend a visit and let yourself into the world of Dries Van Noten. Let me assure you, it’ll be worth your time.

  1. I can’t believe I didn’t make it there yet, especially since one of my friends curated the expo! (I’m supposed to take my mother as well, but our agendas never line up 😉 ) It looks so good, I can’t wait to see all his work and inspirations.

Well, do make sure your agendas line up one day ’cause you won’t want to miss out on this one.

  3. Prachtige tentoonstelling en onbeschrijflijke ontwerpen. Maar wel wat minder persoonlijk dan die van Paul Smith in Hasselt.
