In case you didn’t know, I basically adore Christmas. The first Christmas tunes hit Spotify back in August and now I barely listen to anything else (well, except for end of year-lists, that is).
My biggest pride is my Christmas tree. I’m a tad bit sad it’s once again the plastic one we keep on the attic, but when it’s all set up, I can’t help but falling in love with it over and over again.
Our colour palette consists of deep red and dark and light shades of brown. Very traditional and very American. This baby would fit perfectly in a humongous chalet in Aspen, don’t you agree?
Now, part of me also has this thing called wanderlust. Being the hoarder that I am, I used to buy every single souvenir I could get my hands on. I got rid of most of it, but I still hold on to my Starbucks city mug collection. I also tend to get a magnet now and then but the one thing I love to roam the souvenir shops for are Christmas ornaments.
I introduced you to our ever-growing collection of Disney ornaments last year, but this year I’m presenting the wanderlust edition of my Christmas tree.
It’s amazing how, even during the hot summer months, you basically find Christmas ornaments everywhere.
Some are very expensive, like the one I got at Rockefeller Center five years ago and others are just plain fun, like the Powell Street Cable Car I got in San Francisco.
Only just last week, I got another one at Starbucks, I love the miniature mugs they have in their 2015 collection.
My favourite, you ask? Most definitely the one we got in New York. I guess that one started it all and it is so fragile and beautiful.
Admittedly, the ones with blue and purple in them, that don’t really fit in the tree, are put in the back of the tree. They’re there and that’s what matters most.
We have a big tree, so while there’s an abundance of travel memories in it, it still feels coherent. As long as that’s the case, I’ll be (hopefully) adding many more travel memories to our tree.
Wat een leuk idee om de kerstboom vol te hangen met vakantieherinneringen! Ook tof om te zien dat alles eigenlijk wel best mooi samenpast.
Mijn boom ziet er nog niet half zo leuk uit! 🙂
I am exactly the same!!! Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday and the tree is the centerpiece of my house during the season. Ours is decorated in creams and golds, I adore it. We also collect ornaments on our travels and I just love unpacking them and bringing back all the fun memories each year when we decorate the Christmas tree. It’s amazing. 🙂
